SOUTH DORSET GIANTS 62, NORTH DEVON RAIDERS 10

South Dorset Giants returned to winning ways with an emphatic win over a youthful North Devon side.

After the previous week's loss away at East Devon Eagles, the Giants produced some stunning rugby with full-back Asiah Bobo, the British Army representative, scorching over for four tries.

The game was only five minutes old when giant prop Yogi crashed over from a short penalty which set the tone for the afternoon.

A couple of minutes later the home crowd were cheering again when Bobo showed them what was in store for the rest of the afternoon coming into the line from depth and at pace.

Bobo was at it again soon after collecting his brace underneath the posts. A simple drop-off move resulted in the next score, this time for centre Les Mooney, who collected the first of his brace.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first with Giants scoring at will with Craig Barter, Will Hughes and Mark Sarginson adding to those of Mooney and Bobo.

Manager Dave Allan and Coach Anthony Cowburn were delighted with their charges.

Cowburn said: "With the semi-final next week it was good to see us not only dominate a game but put some phases of play together where we were able to link both forwards and backs together.

Allan added: "It was a run out for the boys today, we played some really good stuff and it was nice to see the different class Bobo showed as well.

"But my admiration goes out to the Raiders who had to borrow a couple of players after travelling down with only 11. They never gave up and, with only two players over the age of 20, they are going to have a bright future."
