Tough draw for the Raiders in South West Challenge Cup
The North Devon Raiders will begin their challenge for the South West Rugby League Challenge Cup with a home game against holders East Devon Eagles on Saturday June 6th.
The draw, made at the Rugby League's South West office in Exeter, paired the Somerset Vikings with Plymouth Titans, South Somerset Warriors and South Dorset Giants, South Western League Champions Devon Sharks hosting the Exeter Centurions and the Raiders vs East Devon Eagles at their North Devon home.
Raiders' Keith Fillingham was philosophical about the draw.
"The Eagles will provide us with the toughest test possible in our first ever cup game but I'm sure our players will relish the challenge. Most of the East Devon players will be familiar to North Devon union fans due to their Exmouth RFC connections and the Barnstaple - Exmouth rivalry will surely add a bit of spice to the game with the likes of Mark Wathies, Richard Cadywould and Tony Emmins donning the Eagles jersey"
