Conference Fixture Groupings Announced

The Rugby Football League and Rugby League Conference have announced the initial draft of the 2010 South Western Division today, with eight clubs playing a ten game regular season and a local knockout cup.

The eight clubs have been split into two four club sections for fixture compilation purposes with clubs playing those in their section twice (once at home, once away) and the others once (either home or away).

The Raiders have been placed in an all Devon section which, whilst cutting down on travelling, means that they have two games against reigning South West premiers Devon Sharks, undefeated Minor Premiers and South West Cup holders the East Devon Eagles and 2007 Premiers and 2008 Devon Cup winners Plymouth Titans.

The top three clubs will then play off for the South West Premiership with a Grand Final at Exeter's Exhibition Field on Sunday August 8th.

The first Conference game of the season on May 8th will be preceeded by the South West Nines in Exeter on Bank Holiday Monday, May 3rd. 

Raiders PRO Keith Fillingham commented, "The publication of the fixture list is always an exciting time for clubs, especially for the Raiders in their inaugural season. We have a tough task ahead of us with the Sharks and Eagles in our section meaning four games aginst last season's grand Finalists whilst the Titans will be no pushover if they return to their 2008 form." 

"Our first home game is due to be played on the weekend of May 8th/9th so we have four and a bit months to get everything ready, all help would be greatfully received".
